Celebrating 10 years of Barts MS Advisory Group

The Barts MS Advisory Group (AG) at Queen Mary University of London has been involving patients with lived experience of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in their research planning and implementation for 10 years now.

I joined a milestone meeting which gathered members to review and celebrate the impact of their contributions. The founder of the AG Alison Thomson presented just how much change has been made over the decade whilst the people with MS and how the AG provided a safe space for talking openly and without judgment, facilitating an open two-way dialogue between educators and patients and putting the patient at the centre of all decision making.

I facilitated a discussion to find out the group sees its work and its benefits and this informed the development of an illustration used as part of a poster presented at ECTRIMS (European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis) in Milan, Italy.
